I'm a rock music historian and writer based in Winnipeg. I've written feature articles and reviews for Mojo, Uncut, Classic Rock, Goldmine, Discoveries, Record Collector, Rock Express and Western Report among others and am a frequent contributor to the Winnipeg Free Press. I've also written for television and radio and hosted several CBC radio series. The Bravo TV documentary 'Buffy Sainte-Marie: A Multimedia Life' I wrote was nominated for a Juno.
I've also served as a consultant and guest for CBC TV's 'The Life and Times of Randy Bachman' and A&E/Biography Channel's Neil Young Biography episode, as well as assisting with a BBC TV documentary on Young. I've written more than a dozen books published worldwide including music history biographies of Randy Bachman, Neil Young, The Guess Who, Steppenwolf, Ian and Sylvia, the Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Arthur Lee and Love as well as the first comprehensive study of country rock and the first ever chronicle of both the local Winnipeg music scene and the recording artists who have made Manitoba famous.
I curated the 'Shakin' All Over: The Manitoba Music Experience' exhibit at the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature in the summer of 2010. I teach a post-bachelor level course on rock music history at the University of Winnipeg and recently organized and hosted the first ever UK British Invasion rock 'n' roll history tour for Carlson-Wagonlit Travel.
